A journey back in time featuring replicas, mostly steering wheels, dedicated to the greatest works of art on four wheels and the protagonists who made them immortal. A journey through past decades that takes us on a new and exciting challenge: creating our first full-rim steering wheel.
The Lotus 98T Inspiration
Let’s cast our minds back to 1986! Ayrton Senna raced aboard a legend like the Lotus 98T, the single-seater designed by Gérard Decarouge and Martin Ogilvie that brought major innovations to the Formula 1 championship. The era of turbo engines in F1 had begun, and this is precisely where our journey through time starts, with a touch of nostalgia but also plenty of enthusiasm. The small turbocharged 1.5L V6 engines were capable of reaching 1,500 horsepower, and pushing them to the limit required a perfect blend of courage and madness. Qualities the great Senna certainly did not lack: his points helped the team finish third in the championship.
It was a year that delivered powerful emotions to Motorsport enthusiasts and gave our team excellent inspiration for creating the Vintage Collection, which we are launching with our first “full-rim” steering wheel. It has a diameter of 260 millimeters, with the center of rotation positioned a few millimeters below the plane of the grips to make it easier to drive an unpredictably oversteering car.
