Winners do not raise trophies only in real-world racing. Thanks to the 3DRap trophies for Sim racing, virtual driving champions can also celebrate victory with a trophy made entirely by the Mercogliano-based start-up for virtual motorsport competitions. From the design by Adriano D’Elia to production using 3D printing, what sim drivers will hold in their hands is an innovative object, just like the virtual sport itself, which goes beyond the boundaries of traditional sport and attracts ever more enthusiasts—Sim racing in particular. 3DRap has dedicated a Community section on its website to it, connecting sim drivers from all over the world.
3DRap’s creation is a zero-impact, eco-friendly trophy because it is made from BIO material and produced using additive technology, a low-energy manufacturing system. Far removed from the industrial process, it is a true product of digital craftsmanship, born from the desire to celebrate the success of victories. Designer Adriano D’Elia explained: “When I was given the task of shaping the trophy, I drew inspiration mainly from torches, as they are designed to carry an inextinguishable flame during a marathon. In this case, the flame is the passion for the world of racing, while the torch is the trophy proudly raised to celebrate another great victory. To bring this idea to life and combine it with production feasibility, I created various sketches, ultimately achieving an excellent compromise between the two.”
Customized Trophies for Communities
Made from scratch each time without using a mold, the trophy is customized with the logos of the online communities that organize simulated driving tournaments and championships and that have enthusiastically welcomed yet another innovative idea from the young engineers dedicated to the world of Sim racing. The first community to receive the trophy was Italy’s Virtual Racing Group, but this original piece dedicated to virtual drivers is beginning to make its way around the world, with numerous requests from abroad as well.
Celebrating Sim Racing Victories
Whether on a real track or a virtual circuit, every victory deserves to be rewarded. From now on, alongside their successes, Sim racing champions will also be able to collect 3DRap trophies to display in their trophy cabinets. They are a symbol of the excellent results drivers achieve on the track and that the company continues to attain thanks to creativity, passion and a commitment to innovation, without losing sight of respect for the environment and originality of form.
