3DRap at Maker Faire 2018

Innovation within everyone’s reach. This is Maker Faire Rome – The European Edition 4.0, returning for its sixth edition from October 12 to 14 at Fiera di Roma. It is the largest innovation event, offering a leap into the future. For the second consecutive year, 3DRap was selected by Sviluppo Campania, in collaboration with the Region, to represent Campania at this internationally renowned event.
With more than 100,000 attendees recorded last year, Maker Faire Rome celebrates the culture of do-it-yourself technology, bringing together producers and consumers, enthusiasts and the curious, but above all new organizations presenting their projects in science and technology, as well as in the biomedical and digital fields, food, agriculture and craftsmanship, automation, and new forms of art and entertainment. 3DRap will therefore attend the three-day event organized by Innova Camera, the special agency of the Rome Chamber of Commerce. The event aims to place science, science fiction, technology and business, as well as entertainment, at the heart of the discussion on innovation for a variety of audiences, providing a major opportunity to discover and experience inventions and technological innovations.

3DRap’s Sim Racing Showcase

3DRap will showcase several products and services related to the world of sim racing, a sector that immediately proved highly compatible with the business model envisioned by our team. For simulated driving—an e-sport that continues to grow rapidly in both revenue and number of enthusiasts—the Irpinian company has developed more than 50 peripherals, modifications and accessories shipped to 80 countries worldwide, thanks to the expertise that some of its founding partners gained in real-world racing and transferred to virtual racing. One project in particular is helping 3DRap gain increasing visibility in the world of virtual driving, further strengthening the key role the company has already established in the sector in a short time. It is the hand controller for people with disabilities, designed entirely by our engineers and manufactured using 3D printing. Worn on the back of the hand, this manual control allows sim drivers who cannot use their lower limbs to accelerate and brake with a small, simple movement of their fingers, replacing the pedal set found in traditional simulated driving rigs. Many people have already tried it and are pleased with this project, which originated from requests made by several sim drivers with disabilities who, until now, have faced considerable barriers to accessing sim racing.

Exhibits and Visitor Access

The hand controller, together with 3DRap’s many products dedicated to sim racing, will be available to try from Friday, October 12, in the 3D printing area at Maker Faire Rome. On the first day of the fair, schools will visit makers from across Europe. From Saturday the 13th, admission will be open to enthusiasts and curious visitors eager to encounter the future of innovation.
