Finally… so many people have been waiting for this news. And now it’s here! Poly is becoming an open-source project! Anyone can help improve it, develop variations and have fun with the world’s first biodegradable, portable, multitool, battery-powered 3D printer!
Our team therefore continues to believe in the value of open source and open innovation, in keeping with the principles on which it founded 3DRap.
To share our project, we chose Instructables, a site created by mechanical engineer Eric Wilhelm and launched in August 2005. It specializes in do-it-yourself (DIY) projects uploaded and created by users, which other users can comment on and rate for quality.
Instructables is dedicated to step-by-step collaboration among members to create a variety of projects. Users post instructions for their projects, usually accompanied by visual aids, and interact through the comments section below each step of a project, as they would on a forum.
We can’t wait to see the first modifications and suggestions for a project that brings people of all ages together and has generated tremendous excitement worldwide, attracting the attention of over 40 international publications in just a few months.
