F3: Opportunity for Matteo Nannini, Starting from the Front Row in Austria

An intense week for young Matteo Nannini. Fresh from his FIA Formula 2 debut weekend in Bahrain, he got back into a single-seater in Austria, this time in HWA RaceLab’s #14 F3 car. After some uncertainty, Nannini reaffirmed his decision to race in F2 and F3 in the same season.

After the difficulties of the French Grand Prix, an important opportunity awaits Nannini, who starts from the front row in the Austrian Grand Prix.

Thanks to the new regulations introduced in 2021, which reverse the top twelve positions in the first two races, Matteo Nannini gains a huge advantage.

For Race 3, Nannini qualified eleventh with a time of 1’20″070, just 344 thousandths of a second off pole position. From eleventh place, under the new regulations, he was moved up to the front row. An important opportunity after the difficulties of the French Grand Prix.

The last challenge left Nannini outside the points, and the HWA RaceLab team is now counting on this opportunity to bounce back and return to winning ways. In Spain, he had in fact secured a podium in Race 3, following a brilliant opening round at Montmeló.

“This weekend at the Red Bull Ring I absolutely want to redeem myself after the difficulties of the French GP – Matteo commented –. I trained a lot on the simulator during the week and I feel ready. I know the Austrian track well and I already had the chance to drive my HWA F3 car there during pre-season testing in April. This is certainly a small advantage for everyone ahead of the race, and I think the conditions are right for me to have a good weekend, as I did in Barcelona.”

This is how Nannini comments on this weekend’s Grand Prix, ready to unleash all his talent.
