The Formula 3 Grand Prix gets underway, with Matteo Nannini triumphant for the first time, in first place. A success that makes us happy as his fans and proud as his sponsors!
“I wasn’t happy after qualifying, but the win has finally come. I’d come close several times. In the race, I tried to manage the rear tires and then avoid taking any risks.”
These were Nannini’s comments after securing the win: a well-deserved result, after repeatedly showing what he is capable of and often coming close to victory.
It took just 4 laps to reach first place, quickly passing Stanek and Fittipaldi. The rest of the Grand Prix was a display of talent and ambition that saw Nannini pull a full 3 seconds clear of his pursuers!
With a succession of fast laps and turns taken at the limit, the HWA Race Lab driver became the first Italian to reach the top step of the podium this season. Until then, Italian drivers in both F2 and F3 had always fallen just short of victory.
After his podium finish in Race 3 in Barcelona, this result puts Nannini on 42 points in the standings.
We now look ahead to Sunday, when Nannini will start from 13th position.
