Matteo Nannini in F2: Our Ambassador Steps Up

The chance to compete in both FIA F2 and FIA F3 in 2021 has opened up new opportunities for drivers, and the first to take advantage of it is Matteo Nannini.

After his F3 debut in 2020, he had already announced his move from Jenzer Motorsport to HWA for 2021.

That was what we all expected, but Nannini’s latest announcement took the entire motorsport world by surprise: he will race in both F3 and F2. That’s a total of 45 races in one year. A major challenge, but one that will bring great results.

At the age of 17, the driver will take the big step up to Formula 2 while also contesting a second season in Formula 3.

HWA has put together an all-Italian pairing in F2. Alessio Deledda will race alongside Nannini.

Here is what they had to say:

Matteo Nannini: “45 races in 2021 won’t be a walk in the park, but it will undoubtedly be a great opportunity to grow as a driver. I really believe in HWA’s F1 talent factory program, and I’m happy because my dual campaign in 2021 will be crucial in bringing me even closer to Formula 1.”

Alessio Deledda: “I’ve waited years for the chance to race in F2. I’m sure that, together with HWA, we will be able to grow during this great adventure ahead of us.”

Thomas Strick: “We’ve found the right mix for our team. In F2, Matteo will have a car that is considerably more powerful than an F3 car and closer to F1 performance.”
